There are only 5 more weeks for teams to make that final push for the playoffs. Teams with strong starts or slow starts are now all fighting for a spot to win the championship. This week is a must-win for everyone trying to secure the one seed or avoid the toilet bowl. Here is one player at each position to start and one to sit.
Quarterbacks
START: Jaxson Dart (vs CHI): The Bears’ defense is banged up and coming off a brutal performance where they allowed 40-year-old Joe Flacco to throw for a career-high 470 yards. Meanwhile, Jaxson Dart has been on fire, averaging over 24 fantasy points per game across his last four starts. With the Bears’ secondary in shambles, this matchup sets up perfectly for Dart to stay hot and deliver another strong fantasy outing.
SIT: Daniel Jones (vs ATL): Jones’ insane run came to a halt after committing five turnovers in the Week 9 loss to Pittsburgh. Now, he travels to Germany to face an Atlanta defense that ranks top six against fantasy quarterbacks. This matchup could favor the Colts’ ground game more than Jones’ arm, making him a risky start.
Running Backs
START: Kyle Monangai (vs NYG): The Giants’ defense has struggled against the run, allowing over 150 rushing yards per game — the second most in the league. Even if D’Andre Swift suits up, Monangai has carved out a steady role in the offense. After leading the league in rushing yards in his first career start in Week 9, he’ll be hungry for more in a favorable home matchup against New York.
SIT: Kimani Vidal (vs PIT): Pittsburgh is allowing one of the highest passing yard totals per game this season, which bodes well for the Chargers’ aerial attack but not their run game. In last week’s close matchup against a weak Titans run defense, Vidal managed just 30 yards. With only one touchdown all year and the Chargers likely leaning on the pass again, Vidal is a risky play this week.
Wide Receivers
START: Wan’dale Robinson (vs CHI): Robinson has seen consistent usage, earning 7+ targets in four of his last five games from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. He’ll face a banged-up Chicago secondary that’s allowed over 160 receiving yards per game to wideouts this season. In what projects to be a high-scoring matchup, Robinson should thrive.
SIT: Chris Olave (vs CAR): With rookie quarterback Tyler Shough now leading the Saints’ offense, Chris Olave’s target volume has taken a noticeable hit. New Orleans’ passing game has struggled all season, and that trend may continue against a Panthers defense that’s allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. Coming off Carolina’s statement win in Green Bay, this matchup looks tough for Olave.
Tight Ends
START: Dalton Schultz (vs JAX): Schultz has seen a steady uptick in volume, drawing 8+ targets in two of his last three games. With injuries thinning Houston’s receiving corps, he’s becoming a key target for C.J. Stroud. The Jaguars have struggled against tight ends all season, allowing the second-most fantasy points to the position — making Schultz a strong start this week.
SIT: Evan Engram (vs LV): The Raiders are allowing fewer than four receptions per game to tight ends this season. With Troy Franklin emerging in Denver’s offense and the running back duo dominating the short passing game, Engram’s target volume has taken a hit. Coming off a zero-catch performance, it’s hard to trust him to rebound and produce solid numbers this week.
