Highland Park High School’s student-run newspaper, Shoreline, has announced its editorial board for the 2026–2027 school year following a competitive application and interview process.
According to club advisors Mr. Lusson and Mr. Tanner, the selection process highlighted a strong level of interest and commitment to student journalism. They noted they were “impressed with everyone, both [their] thoughtful applications and [their] impressive interviews.”
Current juniors Sydney Jones, Eden Gunsberg, and Gabrielle Sullivan have recently been named the Editors-in-Chief for the 2026-2027 school year. As Editors-in-Chief, they will lead the publication’s overall direction and coverage, guiding students toward the newspaper’s success.
“We want Shoreline to be something students actually read, not just something they scroll past. That means covering stories that matter to the student body and making our content more engaging and accessible,” said Sydney Jones.
In addition, the Editors-in-Chief will be supported by a carefully selected team of managing editors. Junior Penelope Kapple and sophomore Phoebe Berkowitz have been named News Editors.
Juniors Hannah Buckmaster and Francesca Schneider are the new Arts & Entertainment Editors.
Junior Ethan Gottlieb and sophomore Hal Steinberg will serve as Sports Editors.
“Sports are a big part of the school community, so we want our coverage to reflect that and bring more attention to what’s happening across all levels,” said Hal Steinberg.
Additionally, junior Jack Sollinger will serve as Marketing Manager and junior Russell Bleiman as Photography & Illustration Manager.
The editorial board is responsible for guiding Shoreline’s content, managing production, and shaping how the publication engages with the student body.
“We’re excited to build on what Shoreline has already done and continue making it something students feel connected to,” rising Editor-in-Chief, Eden Gunsberg, said.
The new Shoreline Editorial Board is excited to expand the thriving online newspaper, and the newly selected team has already begun preparing for the upcoming school year.
