As the NFL offseason continues, teams across the league are making significant roster changes ahead of the upcoming season. NFL free agency officially began Monday, March 9, marking the annual period when players with expired contracts become free agents and can negotiate and sign with any team.
The Chicago Bears are expected to have plenty of cap space and that available cap room gives general manager Ryan Poles plenty of room as he continues shaping the roster for next season. Below is a breakdown of the most notable moves involving the Bears.
Chicago Bears Signings
S Coby Bryant — 3 years, $40 million
LB Devin Bush — 3 years, $30 million. Bush is one of the fastest linebackers in the NFL, clocking 20.23 mph while returning a 97-yard interception for a touchdown last season.
DT Neville Gallimore — 2 years, $12 million
CB Cam Lewis — 2 years, $4 million
WR/KR Kalif Raymond — 1 year, $5.1 million. Lions fan and Highland Park calculus teacher, Sachin Jhunjhunwala, gave his thoughts on the former Lion. “Kalif Raymond was truly an honor to have on that team. Although I hate the Bears, I’m happy to see that he is still getting work done somewhere else. Raymond did good work for the city of Detroit,” Jhunjhunwala said.
DT Kentavius Street — Unknown contract
Chicago Bears Trades: The Bears acquired center Garrett Bradbury from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
Chicago Bears Players Re-Signed
OT Braxton Jones — 1 year, $5 million
LB D’Marco Jackson — 2 years, $7.5 million
QB Case Keenum — 2 years, $5.5 million. Keenum has served as a veteran mentor for starting quarterback Caleb Williams. While he is not yet a coach, his leadership has been valuable in the quarterback room.
EDGE Daniel Hardy — 2 years, $5 million
Other Moves Involving Former Bears
Buffalo Bills: The Bills acquired wide receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick from the Bears in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick.
New York Giants: The Giants signed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year, $36 million contract.
Tennessee Titans: The Titans signed quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, to a two-year deal. Highland Park Senior Student, Samantha Hoffberg, who has met Trubisky, shared her opinion on the recent signing. “It sucks to see the former Bear not finish his career off strong. He’s going to be floating around the league for a while now,” Hoffberg said.
Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons signed wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus. Zaccheaus originally joined Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and returns to the team for the first time since the 2022 season. He could serve as a third or fourth receiving option.
Additional Bears Offseason News
The Bears officially will not be receiving any compensatory picks after former assistant GM Ian Cunningham left to be the Atlanta Falcons’ GM.
Highland Park Junior Student and Baseball Player, Simon Rose, was not exhilarated on the fact. “The NFL is ridiculous for not granting anything. Over the years, every team gets picks for situations just like this. The fact that the Bears aren’t benefitting from this is absurd,” Rose said.
To fill the gap of Offensive Coordinator, Press Taylor has been elevated.
The Bears have also added Eric Studesville as Running Backs Coach, Will Lawing as Offensive Analyst and Isaiah Ford as Offensive Quality Control Coach.
With a healthy cap stack and a revamped roster, the Bears are officially out of the “waiting” phase and moving straight into a high-stakes 2026 season where the North is up for grab.
